TPU 95A is our high-performance polyether-based thermoplastic polyurethane filament designed to overcome many of the inherent flaws typically found in flexible filaments. TPU can be a tricky material to print due to its inherent flexibility and how this interacts with the printer. TPU 95A was developed with ease of printing and print speed in mind, without sacrificing physical properties. Due to TPU 95A’s wide processing temperature range and excellent layer-to-layer adhesion, higher print speeds can be achieved (100 mm/s @ 250 °C). Under normal print conditions, we have had success with generic setups on printers such as the Ender 3 Pro and Prusa Mini. TPU 95A has the added benefit of having excellent hydrolysis and microbial resistance, with high abrasion resistance and toughness.
TPU materials inherently take up moisture from the surrounding atmosphere due to the nature of their chemistry. When most polymers are extruded with high moisture content, the chains in the polymer will break. When this happens, you may notice a change in viscosity and melt strength of the melted polymer. An obvious sign of your material being too wet is popping noises as the material is extruded, as this is the moisture in the material vaporizing. All TPU materials are shipped in vacuum-sealed bags to prevent moisture uptake during shipping and storage.
Our TPU 95A 3D Printing Filament is proudly made in the USA and has the tightest diameter tolerance on the market. Filamatrix filaments are designed and developed by engineers with 50+ years of experience in plastic extrusion. All Filamatrix products are repeatedly tested for color uniformity and physical properties through an in-house print lab, consisting of numerous printer manufacturers. Physical properties of printed test bars are checked by a certified outside lab.
