Introducing Filamatrix Wood-filled PLA! Based on our standard PLA formulation, but with the addition of real wood. This gives the printed object the look and feel (and smell even) of a wooden part. Due to the nature of the wood filler, we recommend printing with a 0.6mm nozzle to avoid clogs. The wood material will also absorb moisture more than standard PLA, so be mindful on reducing and maintaining moisture more than a standard PLA color.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
- Recommended nozzle temperature: 200° - 220° C
- Recommended nozzle size: 0.6mm or higher
- Recommended bed temperature: room temperature to 60° C
- Recommended drying temperature: 50° C
TIPS FOR OPTIMAL PRINTING
- While a heated bed is not required for printing, starting around 60 °C may give better results.
- PLA adheres to a variety of build surfaces (glass, PEI, etc.).
A FEW WORDS ABOUT DRYING
- All 3D printer filaments are at least somewhat prone to absorbing water (hydroscopic)
- PLA is slow to absorb moisture so it may not be immediately noticeable, but the addition of wood does increase moisture sensitivity
- Indications of moisture problems include popping or spitting when printing and stringy prints
- Drying may be done in a dedicated filament dryer, oven, or food dehydrator
- For casual to moderate printers we recommend

- For PLA, dry six hours at 50° C (120° F)
