Tips for Optimal Printing:
- A heated bed is not required, but starting around 60°C may improve first-layer adhesion.
- PLA adheres to a variety of build surfaces (glass, PEI, etc.).
- Use standard speeds — PLA is forgiving and works well across a wide range of printer profiles.
A Few Words About Drying:
- All 3D printer filaments are at least somewhat prone to absorbing water (hygroscopic)
- PLA is slow to absorb moisture, so degradation may not be immediately noticeable
- Indications of moisture problems include popping or spitting when printing and stringy prints
- Drying may be done in a dedicated filament dryer, oven, or food dehydrator
- For PLA, dry six hours at 50°C (120°F)
